Where can I find a qualified roofing contractor?
Talk to friends, relatives and neighbors who have recently had their roof replaced, ask them about their contractor and if they were pleased with the work done. Also call the Better Business Bureau at (800) 222-1600 or visit their website at www.desmoines.bbb.org to verify the integrity of the contractor. Often inexperienced contractors from other cities or states will come into communities after a damaging storm knowing they will get work because the reputable contractors will already have a list of jobs to do. They frequently defraud customers by getting partial or all of the payment up front, and then they don't show up to do the work. Or if they do show up the roof is not done properly and will need to be replaced. Be cautious of a contractor who will only give you a cell phone number or gives you a Post Office box instead of a permanent address. This will make it very hard for you to get in touch with the contractor if there is a problem.

What is an architectural or laminated shingle?
These shingles are designed to replicate the beauty and durability of a wood shake roof, with one important difference; its color will not change with time. Architectural shingles are manufactured by laminating top layers with tooth like cut outs to the base shingle. The result is a shingle with additional depth, dimension and strength.

How are the shingles applied to the roof?
We use pneumatic nail guns to install shingles on the roof. Shingles should not be stapled to the roof.

Can my roof be shingled in the winter?
Most shingle manufacturers do not recommend installing shingles below 40 degrees; some manufacturers will even void the warranty. The shingles have a tendency to break or crack easily when temperatures are below 40 degrees. For those reasons we adhere to the manufacturers recommendations and we will not install certain shingles during the cold weather conditions.
